Both the Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR) and the ultrasound speaker are most effecve in an arc of approximately 80° (in other words, about 40° to either side of the unit. Outside this area, the PIR will not reliably detect moon, and the sounds may not be heard by the animals. Therefore, when deciding where to posion the repeller, it would be best to place it facing directly into the problem area, using either the ground spike, or hanging it on a wall or fence, ideally at a height of up to 2 metres. The effecve range of the sound is 10-12 metres on the maximum sensivity seng (seng 7 on the le hand knob). This can easily be tested by turning the frequency to one of the sengs with the strobe light (L+, M+ or H+) and observing the distance at which the strobe acvates.
To maximise solar charging, you should not place the product in an area where bushes or trees shade it from the Sun.
